This invitation only workshop is held in conjunction with the public conference Computing is Work. For information on hotel location, etc. please see that page: https://www.socialstudiesof.info/computingiswork/. Note that the meeting location for this workshop is different from the conference.
Organizers: Thomas Haigh & Sebastian Gießmann
Times: 10:00 on Monday, July 3 to 16:00 on Tuesday, July 4. Followed by a social event on July 5.
Location: Herrengarten 3, 57072 Siegen. Room 228 (on the second floor European style, so go up TWO flights of stairs). Scroll down for maps showing how to walk there from the train station or the hotel.
Format: Authors should NOT expect to read out their position statements. Please read all position statements carefully prior to the workshop. We will designate one or two people to open discussion of each statement with their own responses of up to 10 minutes. Each respondent should provide a written summary of their comments to the editor, to pass on to the author.
Schedule: Two of the participants cannot arrive until later in the day on July 3, and others will have arrived only the day before from the USA. To minimize the Haigh will meet people at the hotel at 10:00 on July 3 and lead you to the event location on a circuitous route via Siegen’s main historical attractions, its two castles. Maps: This map shows the pedestrian route to Herrengarten 3 from Siegen train station, a very short walk though the central shopping area. The driving route from the city center motorway exit is also visible.
There are several shopping complexes with large parking garages very close to the venue. The Parkhaus Reichwalds Ecke has been recommended to me as the most convenient place to park (map link).
Getting to the venue from the (former) Ramada hotel is a slightly longer walk – just over 1 kilometer straight down Sandstrasse to the city center.
